MEDIA RELEASE – Annual Hike for Hospice Fundraiser Returns

April 11, 2023

Barrie, April 11, 2023

Barrie, ON – Hospice Simcoe’s Hike for Hospice returns on May 7th. This annual event is an opportunity for families and friends to gather and remember loved ones, celebrate friendships, and help raise funds to support Hospice Simcoe’s 10-bed residence and community bereavement programs. Every year, we welcome participants to gather pledges and join us at Sunnidale Park in Barrie to walk with family, friends, and co-workers in support of Hospice Simcoe. Our fundraising goal this year is $100,000.

This year Hospice Simcoe is celebrating 35 years of providing hospice palliative care to our community, and we do so at no cost to those we serve. We rely on our community for more than 50% of our operating budget or approximately $1.3 million annually and are very grateful for everyone’s support.

Our thanks to our 2023 presenting sponsor Adam’s Funeral Home and Cremation Services and all our additional Hike sponsors: Basic Funerals and Cremation Choices, Innisfil Funeral Home, Kiwanis Club of Barrie, Abram’s Service Centre, CIBC Asset Management, Auto Trim Design & Sign, Dalston General Store, Deluxe Taxi, Jeff White Group, Jeff’s Junk, Parker Coulter Realty Brokerage, Plumbtech Plumbing Inc., Mortgage Sense, Extend Communications Inc., Mason Miller Accounting & Taxation, and The Peggy Hill Group.

The following local businesses generously provide goods and services for our Hike: Barrie Rotaract Club, Dominos Pizza, Fox’s Bakery and Deli, Tim Hortons, Wild Wing Barrie South, Lone Star Texas Grill, LT Event Medical Services, Michael Enterprise Audio & Visual, Rock 95/KOOL FM/Barrie 360, and The Printing House.
