Children and Teen Bereavement

Whether the loss is impending or has already occurred, losing someone you care about can be devastating and can drastically impact one’s life, particularly for children and teens. Hospice Simcoe can help by offering individual peer support for the children and teens across Simcoe County at no cost. Hospice also provides information and tools for the caregivers so they can confidently help their children and teens through this journey of grief.

Hospice Simcoe is a barrier free, inclusive organization. We recognize that bereavement is a unique journey for each person, which is why we strive to meet the needs of every person that walks through our doors. We have designed a support program to specifically meet the needs of children and teens who are experiencing grief due to a death such as parents, siblings, grandparents, extended family and peers.

Hospice Simcoe’s Children & Teens Bereavement Support program is available to any child and/or teen who is anticipating or has already experienced the loss of a loved one due to death within the last five years and lives in Simcoe County.

All of our community and bereavement programs are led by Registered Social Workers who will provide initial contact and work with the client to determine the appropriate support. Social Workers collaborate with our volunteer team to deliver the requested services.

Our Teen drop-in groups are available to teens between the ages of 12-14 and 15-18. These groups allow teens to share their stories among peers, participate in legacy creation and educational workshops.
